EARTH DAY INSPIRATION

For 17 years I didn’t know how lucky I was. Although I enjoyed the

beach growing up in Trinidad, I was young and knew no other climate

or country outside of the Caribbean. So I couldn’t begin to understand

how fortunate I was. I took the nature there for granted 80% of the time.

Today, as an independent entrepreneur, nature is a source of peace and

serenity for me. I crave the sunshine for its warmth and the sense of

happiness it brings me. And I’m even learning to appreciate the quiet

introspectiveness of rainy days & stormy weather (cue the Billie Holiday).

But over the last month, I think my respect for the Earth itself has

evolved into awe, wonder and reverence. Thanks to 31 days traveling

the North and South Islands of New Zealand, I can say, Earth Day

2023 felt more special than ever before.

Being in New Zealand was like living in a picture frame. So much beauty

all around, it transformed me into a lighter, freer more joyful human

being who was, in the same breath, more connected and more grounded.

I felt myself becoming fully rooted in the very essence that connects me

to every other creation on our planet. Some call it God, some call it the

Universe. What I know for sure is that it is something bigger than us all.

While I was in New Zealand, I got more in touch with my emotions, my

dreams, my heart and my soul.  It was the most magical escape and the

most profound reconnection. And I don’t think it would have happened

if it weren’t for the beauty of the land and the love the people there

share for the Earth.

So today I want to share with you a taste of that sweet escape, in hopes

that it will connect you a bit more to yourself, and the world around you.

It makes me happy to do my part musically and spread more awareness

about our responsibility to this planet as our home.

Here is a video for a project I did on Earth Day this year.

It’s a mashup of Louis Armstrong’s What A Wonderful World and

Childish Gambino’s Feels Like Summer. If you didn’t Celebrate Earth

Day on Saturday , don’t fret! Let this be a musical reminder that there’s

still time  to pause and appreciate the beauty of the Earth around you,

wherever you are. Enjoy
